More than 10 years have passed since I wrote my first headline. Writing is not just about grammar and punctuation. It's about how the story or message pulls a reader in. I discovered my passion for writing at Central Michigan University, where I was a member of the AAF and Ad Club. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism with an Advertising concentration. Post-graduation, I wrote for two years in the automotive industry, for newspapers, and as a freelance copywriter. I headed to Chicago in 2012 where I attended Chicago Portfolio School to perfect my copywriting and design skills. I did anything to keep my writing chops sharp. But as I looked at the creative briefs and media plans, I found myself asking for deeper meaning and what lead to the brief. "Why was this the brief?" Who are the target audiences, really?" How do they want to experience the brand?" What is the best way to communicate with them?" That is when I found my next opportunity to continue my education; I studied at BDW of CU Boulder (now IXDMA of CU). This was a designer-founder accelerator meant to immerse students in creative-technology and user-centered design. At BDW, I gravitated toward UX & Content Strategy. I helped define a brand's tone of voice to tell an authentic, approachable story to its consumer-base. And we collectively put user needs at the center of our problem definitions and opportunity statements, and beyond.
Soon after, I dedicated my career to assisting Ford Motor Company as an Experience Strategist at GTB (née Team Detroit). Now a days, you can contact me here. My core competencies are dedicated to my role within UX Strategy and CX Strategy, providing insights and best practices to companies transforming their digital experience. |
